Make it Morgantown.Schedule:Start Times Sunday 7:30am Half Triathlon 8:00am Olympic Distance Entry Fees Half Iron $125.00 - 5/1/2008 $150.00 - 6/27/2008 Half Iron Relay $200.00 - 5/1/2008 $225.00 - 6/27/2008 Olympic $85.00 - 5/1/2008 $95.00 - 6/27/2008 Olympic Relay $110.00 - 5/1/2008 $120.00 - 6/27/2008 Course Information:Click here for course information Half Distance:Swim :: 1.2 Miles Participants will be treated to a unique 1.2 mile swim in the Monongahela River, known locally as the Mon River. Morgantown has arranged for the Mon River Dam and the Mon River Lock upriver to be turned off during the swim portion of the race. This will virtually eliminate any current in the river and allow for a narrow rectangle course to be used for the swim. The swim exit will be just 20 meters from the entrance of the transition area. Bike :: 56 Miles This challenging 56 mile bike will now feature a 2 loop course on the rolling country roads north of the city. Participants will return to cheering crowds in the Transition Area after lap #1 before heading back out on lap #2. Aid stations will be found at the turn-around on Route 100 and at the TA turn-around. Water, fluid replacement, ice and Hammer Gel will be available. Water and HEED fluid replacement will be in water bottles. 39 x 23 gearing is recommend for this course. Run :: 13.1 Miles A 2 lap run course through downtown Morgantown and the paved bike path. Water, HEED fluid replacement, Hammer Gel, Ice, and various foods will be available approximately every mile. Olympic Distance:Swim :: 0.93 Miles / 1500 Meters Participants will be treated to a unique 1500 m swim in the Monongahela River, known locally as the Mon River. Morgantown has arranged for the Mon River Dam and the Mon River Lock upriver to be turned off during the swim portion of the race. This will virtually eliminate any current in the river and allow for a narrow rectangle course to be used for the swim. The swim exit will be just 20 meters from the entrance of the transition area. Bike :: 24.85 Miles / 40 Kilometers This challenging 40 km bike will feature loop course on the rolling country roads north of the city. 39 x 23 gearing is recommend for this course. Run :: 6.55 Miles / 10.5 Kilometers A beautiful 1 lap run course through downtown Morgantown and the paved bike path. Water, HEED fluid replacement, Hammer Gel, Ice, and various foods will be available approximately every mile. AMB Chip Pick-Up:AMB Chip pickup is Sunday (race day) from 6:00 am - 7:30 am -You must wear a chip in order to be timed and receive results after the event. -You will be charged $96 for each lost or non-returned chip. Race Packets:All pre-registered participants will receive an official race technical t-shirt, water bottle, post race food and beverages and much more. Registration, Packet Pick-Up and Expo Info:June 28, 2008 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ The Waterfront Hotel, Morgantown, WV - Registration - Race Expo - Packet Pick-up (MANDATORY) - Bike Check-in at transition (MANDATORY) Saturday, June 28, 2008 Waterfront Place Hotel All participants need to furnish a photo ID and USA Triathlon membership card (if applicable) during the registration and packet pickup process. If you do not have your USAT card, we must charge you the one day $10 license fee. If you do not have a photo ID, we are not allowed to issue you a race packet. USAT requires us to follow this rule with no exceptions. Important Information from USAT for Professional Triathletes Only USA Triathlon requires that all participants use a US CPSC approved bicycle helmet. The CPSC approval sticker is found inside the helmet. As in the past, all professional athletes will have their helmets inspected on race day and any helmet that does not contain the CPSC approval sticker will not be allowed for use. All helmets purchased in the United States are, by law, CPSC approved. Aero or Chrono style helmets may be used, but must be CPSC approved. Awards:The top 5 overall and the top five in all age groups, relay teams, and weight divisions in both the male and female divisions will receive beautiful, custom-made awards as well as prizes for top age group winners. All finishers in both the Olympic and Half Iron events will receive custom finisher medals. Eligible professionals racing in this year's event will be competing for the $15,000 prize purse. The male and female pro prize purse is as follows: Top professionals from the U.S. and abroad are competing for a total prize purse of $15,000. All professionals MUST be licensed professionals and hold a current pro license from their countries governing body.
